GIFTS FOR GLAMORGAN CARE CENTRE
As we approach the Christmas season and start thinking seriously about shopping for family and friends, let us also remember the residents of Glamorgan Care Centre. There are 36 men and 16 women now living at the Centre, covering a wide range of adult ages. Staff there suggest a variety of suitable gifts, and also suggest that for clothing, large or extra-large sizes (but generally not bigger than that) are more useful.  Examples of particularly welcome items are socks, gloves, scarves, hats, underwear, pajamas, nightgowns/nightshirts, sweaters, shirts, belts, and suspenders (preferably wide). Other enjoyable items are small board games, cribbage boards, playing cards, and puzzles of 750 pieces or smaller, as well as toiletries such as brushes, combs, and nail polish. Sugarless candy and chocolates (nut-free) can provide a nice treat.

Also, small decorations or small wreaths for the residents’ doors or rooms are welcome.

Please avoid nuts of any kind, sharp objects, and candles. The gifts from LUC are an important and much appreciated part of Christmas for the residents at the Centre, many of whom do not have family or friends in the community. A box to receive your unwrapped gifts will be in the narthex from November 13 to December 11.  For further information, please call Barbara Penhale at 403-249-9740.

Walk With me, I Will Walk With You (VU# 649) LUC walking group meets on the 3rd Monday of each month. Next walk is  Dec. 19, 10:30 and carpool to the site. Come join us!  Bring lunch. We do not walk far nor fast. If weather is inclement, we’ll be together  at our church for board games.  All Are Welcome (VU #1) moms and kids, dads and teens, young and mature, and we have even had the family dog with us! Let’s take time to stroll, chat to share and enjoy the great outdoors. Questions/suggestions? Contact Lorna Flack, 403-246-2095.
